“A thinking person’s view of the Apocalypse. It was a very interesting take on the connection between the symptoms. I really liked the film because of the love story. Two people who couldn’t connect gradually connect. It was well crafted and unfolded in a measured way. I would recommend this film. The acting was great.”
“Made no sense. Totally painful to sit through.”
“Perfectly awful!”
“Loss of scent, what an interesting twist on ultimate loss and the destruction we are doing to the planet. It’s so subtle and devastating, all our links, personal and public, are triggered by scent, and our past memories are tied to scent. Where can the world go from there with everyone blind? Interesting exercise!”
“Well, that was bizarre.”
“Just gruesome! What happened to a Hollywood ending?”
“Are we doing this to our environment?”
“Another uplifting Saturday morning. 87 minutes to get to the point. The most repulsive scene was the eating frenzy.”
“Once I got into the pace of this end-of-the-world tale, it was fascinating. My favorite line: ‘you come to have a profound appreciation of what it means to be alive.’ Having just gone through a near death experience, my husband and I have become closer than ever, after 34 years together. The love story in the film was an analogy for the most basic instinct of love and human compassion and companionship. "
“I really didn’t like it, but I appreciated it. I don’t think it was really that deep or revealing.”
“Fine acting.”
“So cheery, thank you. It also was at times a silent movie/sci-fi…”
“I lost my patience watching this senseless imperfect movie.”
“For me, the voice over narration was a distancing device between me and the main characters. Although it efficiently delivered the facts of the epidemic, it put up a wall that keeps me an observer of the story, rather than a participant by empathy. That said, Ewan McGregor and Eva Green are both tremendously appealing performers. And the film was gorgeously shot and wonderfully put together.”
“This truly is a thinking person’s film, but that’s true of the best sci-fi.” No CONTAGEON thrills here, but this was much more profound.”
