Beautifully done. The images, the music contributed greatly to the mood of the picture.
Amazing performance. Oscar worthy.
One of the greatest acting achievements I have witnessed.
A portrait of Lily a man transitioning a woman but also an incredible and moving portrayal of a couple in an incredibly difficult circumstance. Put a knot in my stomach and then another and another. Alicia was dazzling, don't overlook her performance.
Wonderful! A beautiful, powerful film, not just about sex reassignment but life and love. Everything was beautiful--costumes, sets, scenery, the dog and the actors.
Wonderful acting. Eddie Redmayne totally believable. Beautiful location.
Eddie Redmayne was remarkable in his portrayal as was Alicia Vikander his wife. Visually stunning film. This really captures the time period. Seeing Paris looking so exquisitely is sad especially today after the attacks in Paris yesterday. Sensitive subject handled in such a tasteful way.
Gorgeous!
The film was worthwhile and relevant for 2015. A memorable movie-going experience.
The title of the film could refer to either Lily or Gerda. Both endured remarkable events so profoundly examined in the film.
Beautifully, sensitively told. Wonderful acting by Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander. Oscar nominations for all. Also, insightful as to how the medical communities viewed men with this situation. Gerda was an amazingly understanding person for that time. Only negative is there wasn't enough exploration of Gerda's feelings as Lily was transforming. Sets, costumes, locations were all spot on. The music too. Stunning look to the film.
Eddie Redmayne is a fabulous actor no matter what character he portrays. He's also a beautifully looking man. I wouldn't mind looking like him (his feminine look) of course!
All the players at the top of their game, Hooper, Redmayne, and an exquisite script that might take a few liberties with historical facts but nevertheless has a profound emotional impact.
Beautifully portrayed. A sensitive love story about truth and love. Extraordinarily portrayed in a caring understanding way.
Loved the movie.
I found this film forced.
An exquisite film, brilliantly acted and worth the price of admission just for the amazing shots of scenery. The message is timely and beautifully, sensitively told.
I found the score to be very manipulative and intrusive and there were too many close-ups!
The music was overbearing and controlling of emotional ride, too much. Otherwise sensitive treatment of complex issue.
A superbly realized story that, as you said, speaks for tolerance. The hope is that many will see it--and many will--as the awards it is inevitable to receive are sure to generate interest. Sadly, those who most need to learn the lesson of the film will be the first to ignore it.
The story and acting were excellent and very moving, but I found the film as a whole overly-sentimental in its look and prettiness and sound. I prefer a more straight-forward movie, less awash in signaling.
An excellent screenplay on a very delicate subject. Superb acting by Eddie Redmayne.
A sumptuous looking and empathy creating film. It was a beautifully and lovingly-crafted film of Lily Elbe.
The subject matter was excellent, the movie wasn't. I wanted it to be so much better.
Poignant film. Painfully emotional, people needed compassion then and continue to need it!
What a beautifully rendered, moving and important film. Heavy! But such a powerful presentation of a human reality and a poignant portrayal of both transgender existence and fact.
