“Loved it. Raw, dramatic and great.”

“This is not a movie I would have chosen to see on my own. However, I must say that I enjoyed it. The effects were amazing and the window into history fascinating. The actors were wonderful.”

“The man on the white horse won the hearts and minds of men and women…will there be a sequel?”

“Bombastic in the extreme. Its finale resembled D-Day in 1200. Dialogue was the clashing of swords interrupted by shouts and grunts. Macho macho!”

“The era costumes were excellent. The hand-to-hand combat is credibility reenacted.”

“Fun, fun, fun and blood. I loved it!”

“Never thought I’d see a version I really liked.”

“Pure adventure/entertainment. Question how much of Robin Hood’s bio is based on fact. I am inspired to read more of history from this era.”

“Meaningless mayhem. This needed subtitles. They mumbled. I couldn’t understand most of the dialogue.”

“A bit heavy handed, although closing was wonderful.”

“I am interested in history so the film has inspired me to read up on the era. Great cinematography and acting.”

“I liked this more than I expected. Not thrilled with the portrayal of Richard The Lionhearted. He was a bit of a buffoon here. The historical timeline was not clear.”

“Amazing film.”

“Did the critics see the same movie? This is rousing action adventure at it’s best!”

“The fighting scenes were a bit much.”

“I enjoyed this film. It was summer fun and yes, I’d recommend it. A fine goodbye film.”

“A great and fun epic and I’m thrilled it was a different take on Robin Hood.”

“Excellent, entertaining film! Loved it!”

“A master filmmaker – Ridley Scott - with his favorite leading man – Russell Crowe with a terrific script by Helgeland. What’s not to like? My students will love it!”

“Oy!”

“A rip roaring costume adventure that flew by. I actually was prepared not to like it, thought it might be too corny. There were some snafus, Marian in armor (please) and 11 miles to the coast. Loved the film anyway. Great score. Great cast, Eileen Atkins and Max Von Sydow, how did Riddley Scott get them? King John is poorly written (go see THE LION IN WINTER). Godfrey was a much better villain.”

“This film has epic written all over it. Exciting, well acted adventure with Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. How can you go wrong? However, found the embrace between Marian and Robin in the midst of bloody battle a bit unrealistic.”

“I loved it. Very original and sets up the future Robin Hood wonderfully. Why use American actors as Brits?”
