“Cute, light and a happy ending!  Wow! Pleasant change of pace.”

“Ordinary and predictable.  A good TV movie.”

“After vampires, Nazis and war, it is nice to see a movie that doesn’t leave you with a moral dilemma or the weight of the world on your shoulders.  Sometimes mindless is good!  The message is things are not always what they seem on first impression.”

“So, so, very unfunny! (In high heels)”

“Why wasn’t Sarah Palin available to play Blanche?”

“A delightful way to begin the new semester!”

“’COOL RUNNINGS’ did the airport exit door (Holy s... it’s cold!) scene better, but Zellweger looked better doing it in heels. And kudos to Siobhan Fallon for out Marge-ing Marge from FARGO. Oh yah!"

“Old fashioned.  ‘FARGO’ without the blood.  Will it be on TV soon?  I enjoyed it.  Happy endings are fun.  Excellent casting.”

“Will it work in Minnesota?  That’s a worry!”

“Cute movie with good acting.”

“Cute film!”

“Such a formula movie that it felt sad to sit through.”

“What a hoot!  Great acting and a heart warming story.  Good way to start the new year.”
“Enjoyable yabetcha!  Thanks a bunch.”

“Fun for a Saturday morning.  Silly, very Hollywood and a true chick flick.  Nothing I’d stand in line for.  And I really don’t like tapioca, even if it’s healthy.”

“Welcome back Doris Day.”

“Absolutely by-the-numbers story, script and movie. The myth, perhaps, of the middle-America town, right down to the residents of Whoville gathered in a circle around the Christmas tree. But the characters are likeable and the message easy to enjoy. People like hope and want to believe love and success is just a small-town visit away. In tough economic times this is what packs 'em in."

“Although predictable, it was funny and charming and relevant to today’s downsizing and corporate culture of cuts by suits who sit in the ivory tower.”

“Union and management falling in love and living happily ever after. Now here’s a fantasy for our times…”

“Frivolous and entertaining.  A feel good movie.”

“This was a pleasant frippery and I enjoyed it, except for the soundtrack.  The music was hammy handed and insulting to an otherwise cute movie.”

“Formula film but fine.  This movie was like tapioca.  Sweet, gooey and lumpy at times, but once in a while you crave a good old comfort food dessert.”

“ ‘NEW IN TOWN’ was much better than I expected.  I thought the labor politics and the promotion of workers over management was very interesting and even encouraging.”

“Light and adorable.  Just what was needed.”

“Light and lovely.”

“A pleasant, mildly enjoyable film.  Funny and warm hearted in spots, but I found it maddening and far-fetched, especially at the beginning.  For me this was not always a feel good movie!”

‘FARGO LITE.’  ‘BABY BOOM’ in Manitoba.  A sweet film which just feels good, cliché but enjoyable and predictable.  Blanche is a great character and so is the foreman of the plant.  Harry Connick is always great to watch.  The film had good moments.  ‘Have you found Jesus?  I didn’t know he was missing.’  ‘Gofer day’ makeover for his daughter.”

“Wish the world of business was anywhere like this.”

“Great to see a movie that isn’t depressing and has a happy ending.”

“A nice surprise.”

“A little too much formula, but delightful.”

“Has anyone else ever been to New Ulm?  PS: the closing of the plants in that area is really big… businesses close, farms get sold, property values tank, etc.”

“Enjoyable feel-good film.  A bit predictable but held my interest.  Some funny and touching moments.  The characters were well played, especially Blanche and her scrap-booking friends.  Could have been a lot of fluff, but turned out to be a nice love story.”

“A likeable film.  Good acting.”

“A sweet, predictable and charming romantic comedy…’THE PAJAMA GAME’ in Minnesota.  But as the two Bens would say on ‘At the movies’, ‘Rent it.’  The frigid cold made me feel good and warm all over.”
