“Wonderful acting all around.  Very poignant, I kept the tissues handy with good reason.  I loved the flashbacks to Blake’s childhood and how his father seemed invincible and infallible to him, only to realize in later years that he was not.  Very realistic father-son relationship.”

“Touching, realistic view of parent/child relationship.  Ambivalent view from child, teenager and adult.”

“Moving portrait of two men coming to grips with each other.  A rebellion and then an acceptance.”

“Well made film about a difficult subject.”

“Sex in a hurry about sums it up.”

“This film had no redeeming value and hopefully will not be a commercial success.”

“Timely subject could have done so much more.  It was repetitious, tedious and shallow.”

“Very fine pacing in the writing and the shooting.  This was the reality show of babysitters movies.”

“Trying unsuccessfully for 5 years to have a child, and knowing what a strain it puts on a relationship, really touched a nerve…however the script lacked depth and substance.  It was wonderful to see MEA member Paula Reisenberg (ed note: as an extra in the film) and so many great actors.  Bette Midler made the movie watchable.  She’s amazing!  And lovely to see actors Lynn Cohen and Ben Shenkman, and my favorite restaurant (Barbetta’s) and Park (Riverside).  Not a movie I’d recommend.”

“Very touching and sweet.  Great honest story, I enjoyed it.”

“Fantastic!  Makes growing old something to look forward to.”

“I volunteer at a nursing home.  This documentary captures the pathos and the humor that keeps me and them alive.”

“Great, great, great!  Maybe the most moving film I’ve ever seen at MEA or anytime.  Thanks!”

Can ‘t wait to take several groups of friends.”

“Best and most original movie I’ve seen in many years.  The simplicity needed to explain the universe is the same simplicity shown in this movie to explain this human story and that is that truth is the most revered and most feared aspect of every culture.”

“Very dark matter indeed.”

“It didn’t matter!  Transition was too quick.  There was no sense of time.”

“Michael Caine was the best, as always. The film tried to do too much. “

“Clever!”

“Good story and fun movie!”

What a joy to watch. A delightful twist to the genre and a woman to be the hero…Showed sexism then and now. The glass ceiling still has not lifted.”

“The film was flawless.”

“ ‘11 HARROWHOUSE’ and ‘BLOOD DIAMOND’ were far better movies, but this had a few moments. And I do love Lambert Wilson in anything.”

“What’s more likely to manipulate your emotions and bring a few tears to your eyes than a story about a mother and child trying to find each other?  A touching story with soap opera touches.  I loved the music!”

“Excellently written.  Very emotional.”

“I very much enjoyed this film.  Nice relationships between the three women.  I first had a difficulty with the ages of Christine Baranski and Jessica Lange and then realized the father married someone much younger.”

“A sweet ride!  ‘THELMA AND LOUISE’ with a death as the prequel instead of the ending.  And who couldn’t love each of those three great characters and the performances of those great actresses. Most brilliant detail was the cell phone screech ring for Francine.”
